Start with the system that owns the answer
Do not ask an AI assistant to infer a store's orders from search traffic or a payment's status from a spreadsheet snapshot. Connect the service that holds the record you need. TalkToData offers focused channels, including eBay for seller activity, Google Search Console for organic search visibility, Google Analytics for site traffic, QuickBooks and Xero for available accounting records, and Microsoft Excel on OneDrive for bounded workbook previews.
These are separate connections and dedicated GPT workflows. Connecting several channels does not automatically join their records into one complete cross-platform dataset. The available actions and fields differ by service.
From connection to a useful question
- Choose a live channel. Open its connection page, sign in to TalkToData and review the provider's consent or credential requirements.
- Confirm the intended account. Check the connected account, company, store or Search Console property before interpreting a result.
- Open that channel's GPT. Sign in to your own ChatGPT account and authorize TalkToData if prompted. The provider credential remains server-side.
- Ask a bounded question. Name the period and the decision. Request the source, filters, row count and unavailable fields in the answer.
- Verify before acting. Check orders, payments, policies and edits in the original system. A GPT response is a review aid, not a replacement for the source of truth.
Questions that lead to decisions
Operations
“For my connected store, summarize the returned orders needing attention this week. State the period, status filters and number of orders reviewed.”
Search and marketing
“For the selected Search Console property, which returned pages gained impressions but have low CTR? Include clicks, impressions, position and the exact date range.”
Finance
“For the connected accounting company, summarize the returned overdue invoices. Separate verified records from suggestions and state what was not available.”
These are example questions, not customer results. Available data depends on the connected account, permissions, plan and each action's limits.
What a connected answer can and cannot prove
TalkToData retrieves approved data on demand through purpose-built actions. It does not ask you to paste a Google password, OAuth token or private API secret into ChatGPT. Some providers grant broad consent even when TalkToData's implemented actions are read-only; check the specific connector's disclosure and the consent screen.
Results can be capped, delayed, filtered or unavailable. A missing row does not prove a record does not exist. A low CTR, rising spend or overdue invoice is a signal to investigate, not proof of the cause. Ask the GPT to distinguish measured facts from hypotheses, and keep any changes in the original service.
Turn the review into a controlled next step
Once you understand the evidence, ask for a short task brief: objective, affected source, date range, observed facts, assumptions, proposed checks and acceptance criteria. A person or separately authorized tool can then implement a change and verify the result. TalkToData's read-only channel actions do not silently edit business records.
For a deeper example, see turning real business data into an AI agent action plan. For a specific setup, follow the Search Console connection guide or the eBay seller guide.
Questions before you connect
Can ChatGPT read my business data automatically?
No. You must connect an approved TalkToData channel and authorize the relevant account. Each dedicated GPT can request only the data its implemented actions and permissions allow.
Does one GPT combine all of my connected services?
No. TalkToData currently uses dedicated GPT workflows for individual channels. Do not assume one answer joins every connected system or returns every record.
Can a GPT change my store or accounting records through these channels?
The channels described here are for review. Verify the specific channel's permissions and actions; the current read-only workflows do not silently change source records.
What should I include in a business-data question?
Specify the connected source, account or property, date range, desired decision, filters and how you want missing or capped data disclosed.
Ready for your first question?
Connect the right account, confirm the status and continue in the GPT linked to that channel.
